Bug-Off spray

Ok, so Love this planet and all its beautiful creatures and try to be mindful of what I do in order to protect it… but hell mosquitoes and flies !!

They are everywhere, especially when you trying to get lunch or supper ready or when you in the garden enjoying a glass of wine and left with itchy bumps and a black fly floating in your glass …

We are bombarded with commercials that offer instant solutions to get rid of these pesky pests but what are the side effects on you and the environment.

Here are just few examples

Pesticides can contain active ingredients including naphthalene
(suspected cancer-causing); phosphorus (irritates throat and lungs); heavy metals
(such as mercury and lead affect brain development and causes lowered IQ
deficiencies in children); lindane (can cause dizziness, tremors, and convulsions);
chlorocyclohexanes (permanent kidney damage, anemia); and organophosphates (linked to
neuromuscular blockage, headaches, fatigue, dizziness, profuse sweating, nausea, vomiting, cramps,
diarrhoea, tightness in the chest, and muscle twitching). Read more here

Here is the solution!

Make your own Bug-Off spray that will not kill the flies and mosquitoes but will make them leave you alone to enjoy your wine ..

You will need:

• 200ml Sterilized amber glass bottle with atomizer sprayer head
• 100ml Witch hazel
• 40ml Distilled water
• 5 drops lavender oil
• 5 drops citronella oil
• 5 drops thyme oil
• 5 drops eucalyptus oil,
• 5 drops peppermint oil
• 5 drops clove oil
• 5 drops rosemary
• 50ml Apple cider vinegar.
• 15ml vodka or rubbing alcohol
• 5ml vegetable glycerin.

1. Place essential oils in a glass bottle, Add vodka or alcohol and shake well to combine.
2. Pour in witch hazel and shake to combine.
3. Add vegetable glycerin. (This is not necessary but helps everything stay combined.)
4. Add water and shake again. Shake before each use as the oils and water will naturally separate some overtime.
