Description

1. Concentration: Typically used at 0.5-5% of the total formulation, depending on the specific application and desired effect.

2. Incorporation:
– Add Soldoc PG410 to the oil phase of your formulation.
– Heat both the oil and water phases to about 70-75°C (158-167°F).
– Slowly add the water phase to the oil phase while stirring continuously.
– Homogenize the mixture using a high-shear mixer for optimal emulsion stability.

3. pH Range: Effective in a wide pH range, typically 3-12, making it versatile for various formulations.

4. Compatibility: Works well with most cosmetic ingredients, including other emulsifiers, oils, and active ingredients.

5. Cold Processing: Can be used in cold-process formulations, making it energy-efficient and suitable for heat-sensitive ingredients.

6. Synergy: Often combined with co-emulsifiers or thickeners for enhanced stability and texture.

Tips for Formulators:

The HLB-value can be used in order to predict the scope of a surface-active substance:

  • HLB-values between 0 and 3 are typical for anti-foaming products.
  • HLB-values between 2 and 8 indicate a water-in-oil emulsifier (the HLB-value is most suitable between 4 and 6)
  • HLB-values between 8 and 18 indicate an oil-in-water emulsifier.

Lavender & Rosemary Oil-to-Milk Facial Cleanser

46% (23ml) Sweet Almond Oil

20% (10ml) Sunflower Oil

10% (5ml) Castor Oil

21% (10.5ml) Emulsifier Polyglyceryl-4 Caprate

1.2% (0.6ml) (+-16 drops) Lavender Essential Oil

0.8% (0.4ml) (+-11 drops)  Rosemary Essential Oil

1% (0.5ml) Vitamin E Oil

Method

  • Weigh all your carrier oils in a beaker, mix well.
  • Weigh your essential oils and Vitamin E.
  • Weigh your emulsifier into an empty beaker and start mixing it with a whisk.
  • While whisking, start adding you’re your carrier oil mixture in small amounts of 1-2ml to start with.
  • Mix well after each addition.
  • Once all your carrier oil has been added and mixed in well, you can add your essential oil and Vit E, mixture.
  • Transfer your product into a dropper bottle or the packaging of your choice.
