It is used as a solvent in certain melt and pour soap recipes (when you make melt and pour from scratch)

We use it to pop the air bubbles once we have poured our melted soap into our moulds.

The alcohol breaks the surface tension of the soap which causes the bubbles to pop.  It also assists with ensuring that that different layers of melt and pour soap adhere together.

Alcohol can kill acne-causing bacteria on the surface of the skin, which is why some swear by alcohol-based anti-acne products to reduce their breakouts. Alcohol also quickly de-greases skin and that instant gratification is attractive to those with super-oily complexions.

Wiping or rubbing the skin with small amounts of isopropyl alcohol is safe. Prolonged soaking in large amounts increases the risk of absorption and toxic effects.
