Nourishing Face Cream

We are bombarded every day with the advertising of miracle creams that will magically take the wrinkles, & blemishes away, and make dry skin supple, and oily skin normal.

Well, what they don’t tell you about is the chemicals that are hidden in their creams and that it takes more than just a bottle of cream to get your skin beautiful.

Keeping your body hydrated, eating a diet consisting more of fresh fruit and vegetables, meditation, or mindful resting to reduce stress, and exercising regularly, will keep your skin supple and free from impurities.

Having a good facial routine is just as important.

1: Herbal steaming once a week to open the pores and release toxins. It also increases the effectiveness of beauty creams, serums, and masks.

2: Use a gentle facial scrub and mask to hydrate skin, remove excess oils and help improve the appearance of pores—while providing a relaxing, spa-like experience at home.

3: Use a facial serum at night to regenerate and repair skin

4: Use a Gentle face cream to protect and hydrate the skin

5: lastly use a gently sunscreen to protect from UV rays.

Making your own personalized face cream couldn’t be easier and you control what you put inside and what you put on your skin.

What I love about this recipe is that the butters, oils and essential oils can be changed to suit your needs:

Here is the basic Recipe:

Instructions:

  • Melt Beeswax in a melting pot or double boiler
  • Slowly add shea butter and allow to melt
  • Slowly pour oils, stirring as you pour to prevent the wax from seizing. Stir until blended.
  • Slowly pour the rose water, stirring as you pour to prevent the wax butter mix from seizing. Stir until blended.
  • Once blended, transfer to an ice bath and stir until mixture thickens slightly and starts to turn creamy white. Remove from ice bath and blend with a hand blender on high speed until creamy.
  • Pour in a sterilized jar. The mixture will thicken more once cooled.
  • Shelf life is 3-4 weeks

Best Butters to use

Shea Butter

Shea butter is one of the most well-known nut butters—and with good reason. Not only is it rich in nutritious fatty acids, but it also has anti-inflammatory properties, ideal for damaged and irritated skin. It’s also rich in vitamin E and can help fight the effects of aging.

Cocoa Butter

Cocoa butter is rich in antioxidants and is often used to help lock in moisture. It’s used to protect skin during the winter months by acting as a physical barrier to the harsh elements. It has a distinctive, delicious smell and you can use it head-to-toe.

MANGO BUTTER

Mango butter has an almost undetectable scent. It’s also non-comedogenic, making it a good choice for congested and acne-prone skin.

Avocado Butter

Smooths wrinkles and prevents skin aging. It adds antioxidants to the skin and lightens and hydrates it, too. Butter fruit contains antioxidants, which help in protecting your skin from damage. It improves your skin’s complexion and density.

Changing to a naturally healthier beauty routine is not only good for you and our environment but for the next generation of humans having to ‘face‘ a war on chemicals.
